About Us

How we fell in love

Melissa grew up in Warwick, New York. She moved to Seattle in August of 2008 after numerous trips to visit her sister Tracey, during Tracey's seven years of living there. (Learn more)

Chris spent his first 32 years in or around Atlanta, Georgia. In 2018 he moved to Ballard in Seattle, Washington. (Learn more)

Chris arrived in Seattle on May 26, 2018 via Penske truck. It so happened that his friends who lived in Seattle were out of town, so he headed down to Lagunitas in Ballard.

Melissa was taking advantage of the long Memorial Day weekend by going brewery hopping in the area with her friends Katie and Teana. They ended up at Lagunitas where Katie’s boyfriend Ryan joined. By serendipitous chance, Chris sat next to Melissa and Teana invited Chris into their conversation encouraging the two to get to know each other (shout out to Teana).

They had dumplings together that night and Chris walked Melissa home. The next day Chris picked Melissa up in a Car2Go with coffee for them both, and they went on their first outing as friends to Washington Park Arboretum. Days went by, and despite a few awkward turtle moments, they started their friendship.

When Chris was moving into his new apartment a couple of weeks later, Melissa offered to help and Chris accepted. They loaded up his belongings from storage and moved them into his new place. She brought him a coffee mug and Stumptown beans as a welcome gift, and it was then that Chris realized she was some kind of special.

Chris asked Melissa to join him on a trip to Europe in the early spring of 2019. On March 24th, while in Prague, Chris and Melissa began "officially" dating. Months went by, they spent a lot of time together, and they fell deeper in love.

They moved in together in 2020 just as the COVID pandemic was taking the world by storm. They took, what has since been referred to as the "Engagement Road Trip", from Washington to Utah in 2021. While at Crater Lake, Oregon, Chris asked Melissa to be his partner for life. She said yes!

Cameron

Ali (Allison only when getting in trouble growing up) is Melissa’s oldest sister. She loves going to the gym and kickboxing, hiking, Dunkin Donuts coffee, puzzles, 80’s movies and music, and the occasional "girly drink". She lives in Warwick, NY with her son Brandon and daughter Reilly.
Tracey, aka Tray, is Melissa’s middle sister. They shared a room during part of their childhood, and an apartment later on when Melissa moved to Seattle. Tracey is a lover of animals, scavenger hunts, camping and road trips, themed DIY parties, and any kind of rickey. She lives in West Chester, PA with her husband Blake and two daughters, Everly and Vyla.
Cameron is Chris' best friend. They met briefly while working at IHG in Atlanta, GA, but really got to know each other in 2013 while working together at the The Weather Channel (thanks Landon). Cameron was one of the driving forces in Chris' decision making to move to Seattle (Rhonda, Alex, and Joel too!). They share a love for good beer, negronis, good food, soccer, grilling, cycling, hiking, traveling, technology, and more. Cameron has been a mentor to Chris, personally and professionally, and always is willing to listen and offer his insight.

Getting There & Parking

Welcome to the "Center of the Universe". We suggest you walk if you are close enough and able to, or take Lyft or Uber. If you need or want to drive, there are several parking options near Fremont Foundry. Most of the lots are small, so be prepared to park on the street.

There is a paid lot directly adjacent to the Foundry. In the past the credit card machine has been broken and has only taken cash, so come prepared! There is also a parking lot across the street at N 35th St and Phinney Ave N (paid). A third larger lot is at the intersection of N 35th St and N Canal St, about half a block from the venue (also paid).

Click here for an aerial view of the parking lot options.

There is also ample street parking along N 35th St, N Canal St, and N 34th St (careful it is a one way).
